Will Baidu have the best Math AI model at the end of July 2026?
🗂 Part of event: Which company has the best Text Arena Math AI model end of July? →💡 What the odds say
The market puts this at about a 0% chance — almost no chance.
No money — just record your call and see if you were right. Yes is at 0% right now.
The market sees Baidu's chance of topping the Math AI leaderboard by end of July 2026 as effectively zero, likely because other Chinese AI labs (DeepSeek, Qwen, GLM) have recently shown stronger math performance and Baidu's latest innovation is in OCR, not mathematical reasoning.
📊 Base rate: In the Chatbot Arena LLM Leaderboard's math category over the past year, no single company has held the top rank for more than a few months, and Baidu has never been ranked first.
What's driving it
- • A July 8, 2026 article lists DeepSeek, Qwen, and GLM as the top Chinese AI models, with no mention of Baidu's math capabilities (SecNews.gr, Jul 8).
- • Baidu's most recent notable AI release, 'Unlimited OCR' on July 5, 2026, focuses on document processing rather than mathematical reasoning (the-decoder.com, Jul 5).
- • The odds have been at 0% for an extended period, suggesting consistent belief that Baidu lacks a competitive math model, with no recent headlines indicating a breakthrough.
- • A March 30, 2026 roundup of open-source AI artifacts does not highlight any Baidu math model, implying the company is not a leader in that space (Interconnects AI, Mar 30).
The case for YES
- • Baidu could release a new math-focused model before July 31 that achieves top rank, leveraging its substantial AI research resources.
- • The 'Unlimited OCR' innovation shows Baidu is actively improving AI capabilities, which could extend to math reasoning.
- • Baidu's long history in AI (founded by a pioneer in the field) means it has the talent and infrastructure to produce a top math model if prioritized (Time Magazine, Jan 18).
The case for NO
- • Recent reports identify DeepSeek, Qwen, and GLM as the leading Chinese AI models, with no evidence Baidu's math model is competitive (SecNews.gr, Jul 8).
- • Baidu's latest AI announcement is about OCR, not math, indicating its current focus is elsewhere (the-decoder.com, Jul 5).
- • The broader Chinese AI landscape is described as undergoing 'involution' (intense competition), making it unlikely Baidu can leapfrog established math leaders in just three weeks (Bloomberg, Oct 14).
What to watch
- • Any announcement from Baidu of a new math-specific model or benchmark result before July 31 would increase the Yes probability.
- • Publication of the Chatbot Arena Math leaderboard update on July 31, 2026, will resolve the market; if Baidu is not in the top spot, the No outcome is confirmed.
- • A surprise release from a competitor (e.g., DeepSeek or Qwen) of an even stronger math model would further cement the No outcome.

Resolution criteria
This market will resolve according to the company that owns the model that has the highest arena rank based on the Chatbot Arena LLM Leaderboard (https://lmarena.ai/) when the table under the "Leaderboard" tab for "Math" is checked on July 31, 2026, 12:00 PM ET. Results from the "Rank" column under the "Text Arena | Math" Leaderboard tab at https://arena.ai/leaderboard/text/math-no-style-control with style control off will be used to resolve this market. Models will be ordered primarily by their leaderboard rank at the market’s check time. If two or more models are tied on rank, they will be ordered by their Arena score, including any underlying, unrounded, granular values reflected in the data below the leaderboard. If a tie still remains, alphabetical order of company names as listed in this market group will be used as a final tiebreaker (e.g., if the two models are tied by exact arena score, “Google” would be ranked ahead of “xAI”). This market will resolve based on the company that occupies first place under this ranking. The resolution source for this market is the Chatbot Arena LLM Leaderboard found at https://lmarena.ai/. If this resolution source is unavailable at check time, this market will remain open until the leaderboard comes back online and will resolve based on the first check after it becomes available. If it becomes permanently unavailable, this market will resolve based on another resolution source.
