Will the New York Yankees win the 2026 World Series?
🗂 Part of event: MLB World Series Champion 2026 →💡 What the odds say
The market puts this at about a 14% chance — very unlikely.
No money — just record your call and see if you were right. Yes is at 14% right now.
Despite being only 13% likely to win the World Series according to the market, the Yankees' low odds reflect a combination of Aaron Judge's unresolved injury and trade-deadline uncertainty rather than a lack of playoff contention, making the team's direction the real story.
📊 Base rate: Over the past 20 MLB seasons, the eventual champion typically carried preseason title odds around 10–15%, placing the Yankees' current 13% near the historical norm for a top contender.
What's driving it
- • Aaron Judge's latest update left the Yankees with no easy trade deadline answer, casting doubt on his availability and the team's offensive ceiling (Empire Sports Media, Jul 22).
- • A reported trade proposal would offload top prospect Jasson Dominguez for a catcher, signaling that the front office may be willing to reshape the roster at the deadline (heavy.com, Jul 22).
- • The Yankees announced a surprising Jazz Chisholm Jr. positional change during the Pirates series, suggesting ongoing lineup experimentation (heavy.com, Jul 22).
The case for YES
- • Gerrit Cole (starting July 22) leads a rotation that can dominate a short playoff series, and the bullpen is among the deepest in baseball.
- • Even with injuries, the Yankees' lineup has proven power and could regain full strength if Aaron Judge returns healthy for the postseason.
- • A aggressive trade deadline move—such as acquiring a catcher—could plug the team's biggest hole and boost championship probability.
The case for NO
- • Aaron Judge's unresolved injury undermines the lineup's core threat, making sustained offensive production unlikely against elite playoff pitching.
- • The Yankees have struggled with consistency against top-tier competition this season, and the 88% 'No' odds reflect market skepticism about their ability to survive multiple playoff rounds.
- • Trade rumors surrounding Jasson Dominguez indicate the team may be selling future for short-term gain, which could disrupt clubhouse chemistry if executed poorly.
What to watch
- • MLB trade deadline (July 31, 2026): A blockbuster acquisition could propel the 'Yes' odds higher, while standing pat or making a minor deal would likely reinforce the 'No' case.
- • Aaron Judge's injury timeline update (expected within days): A clear return date would reduce uncertainty—positive news lifts odds, negative drops them.
- • Results of the current away series vs. Pittsburgh Pirates (July 22–24): A sweep or series loss could slightly shift sentiment around team momentum.

How it resolves
Settled on-chain by UMA's optimistic oracle: once an outcome is clear, anyone can propose the result, which then enters a challenge window where it can be disputed with evidence before it finalizes.
⚖️ A proposed outcome can be disputed during a challenge window before it's final.
Resolution criteria
This market will resolve according to the team that wins the 2026 MLB World Series. If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed team to win the 2026 MLB World Series per the rules of MLB (e.g., they are eliminated in the playoffs), the corresponding market will resolve to “No”. If the 2026 MLB season is cancelled, postponed after December 31, 2026 ET, or there is otherwise no winner declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source will be official information from MLB (https://www.mlb.com/); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
ⓘ A market settles under its own written rules, which can lag what looks decided in the news — so the price may not move to 100% the moment an outcome seems obvious.
