New "Stranger Things" episode released by January 31?
🗂 Part of event: New "Stranger Things" episode released by...? →Despite Netflix confirming new Stranger Things episodes for fall 2026, the market sees zero chance of one releasing by January 31, likely because the specified deadline has already passed (Jan 31, 2026) or because the market interprets 'new episode' strictly and the upcoming content may not count.
📊 Base rate: In the history of Stranger Things, new seasons have arrived 1–3 years apart, with no standalone episodes released between seasons, so the base rate for a single new episode by a fixed date is near zero.
What's driving it
- • Netflix officially confirmed new episodes for fall 2026, but that is after the January 31 deadline (Collider, Jun 5).
- • Recent releases (VHS Special Edition, surprise season) are re-packaged or bonus content, not distinct new episodes (The Verge, Jul 15).
- • The market odds have been at 0% since creation, indicating no new episode materialized by January 31, 2026, and no credible catalyst remains.
- • No clear catalyst recently—the VHS re-release and anniversary events explicitly are not new episodes.
The case for YES
- • If the market's deadline is interpreted as January 31 of a future year (e.g., 2027), then Netflix’s fall 2026 episodes would arrive before that date and resolve Yes.
- • A surprise drop of a teaser or standalone episode before the deadline could still occur, though no such leak exists.
The case for NO
- • The resolution date January 31, 2026 has passed, and no new episode was released, making a No resolution certain.
- • Netflix’s confirmed fall 2026 episodes are scheduled after the deadline, so even if the deadline were a future year, they would likely be the same set—not a single episode by the earlier date.
- • All recent promotional activity has been for re-releases or bonus features, not new episodes, consistent with no plans for a standalone episode.
What to watch
- • If Netflix were to announce a surprise release date before January 31, 2026 (impossible as date has passed), odds would spike to Yes.
- • A public statement clarifying that the fall 2026 episodes are indeed a new season, not individual episodes, would reinforce the No case.
- • Any leaked internal Netflix memo about a standalone episode could shift odds, but none exist.

Resolution criteria
This market will resolve to "Yes" if Netflix officially releases a new episode of Stranger Things (i.e., an episode that was not previously available to stream on Netflix) between market creation and January 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For the purposes of this market, an “episode” must be listed as a distinct episode of Stranger Things on Netflix and be playable for general subscribers in the United States. A behind-the-scenes featurette, documentary, trailer, recap, cast interview, deleted scenes compilation, or other bonus content will not count unless it is clearly presented by Netflix as an official numbered or titled episode of the series. If Netflix releases an alternate cut, extended cut, or “secret” version of an already-released episode, it will not count unless it is listed as a separate episode entry on Netflix. The primary resolution source for this market will be the Stranger Things title page on Netflix (episode list and availability), however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
ⓘ A market settles under its own written rules, which can lag what looks decided in the news — so the price may not move to 100% the moment an outcome seems obvious.

The market is essentially flat with both listed candidates at 0% odds, but the biggest recent shift is the record-breaking performance of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ in late July, which is not a market candidate — creating a glaring mismatch between box office reality and trader sentiment.
